Tinybeans is a private photo journal. You upload photos and videos, and invited family follow along. Qeepsake texts you questions about your child, saves your answers in a journal, and prints them as a book. Choose Tinybeans if photos and family sharing come first, and Qeepsake if prompts and a printed book do. Tinybeans Group has owned Qeepsake since November 2025.
We make Our Little World, a different kind of baby book app, so we are not neutral. We read each app's App Store listing, pricing and help pages and recent App Store reviews on 15 Oct 2026. Both apps are well liked. Tinybeans had a 4.86 rating from 104,229 ratings and Qeepsake a 4.89 rating from 14,632 ratings on the US App Store as of 15 Oct 2026.
Who owns Tinybeans and Qeepsake?
Tinybeans Group owns both apps. Tinybeans Group, which is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, announced on 3 Nov 2025 that it had bought the assets of Qeepsake Inc., a Boston journaling company, in a US$2.7 million all-stock deal (press release via PR Newswire). The same release said Qeepsake had nearly 50,000 paid subscribers as of October 2025 and described plans to integrate the two platforms.
As of 15 Oct 2026, Tinybeans and Qeepsake are still separate apps with separate plans. The seller on Qeepsake's App Store listing is now Tinybeans USA Ltd, the same seller as Tinybeans.

Is there a free version of Tinybeans or Qeepsake?
Tinybeans has a free plan and Qeepsake does not. Free Tinybeans allows 20 photos or videos a month and 5GB of storage, with ads around your journal, according to Tinybeans' help center as of 15 Oct 2026. Our post on what Tinybeans costs covers the free plan in more detail.
Qeepsake says it is moving to a paid-only system. Its help center, checked on 15 Oct 2026, says Qeepsake has begun deactivating inactive free accounts, emails people before it does, and holds deactivated accounts for one year so they can be restored. If you cancel a Qeepsake trial or membership, the account moves to Qeepsake Lite. Lite keeps past entries viewable but can't order books or take entries by text.
Several recent Qeepsake reviewers say they lost access to years of free entries until they paid or bought a PDF. Some recent Tinybeans reviewers describe something similar with older photos on the free plan. Tinybeans' help center says that when a free journal is over 5GB, the newest photos stay visible and older ones are archived until you upgrade, and free users can export archived memories at no cost. Our post on what happens to a baby book if you stop paying has a checklist.
Which is better for two parents?
Tinybeans makes it easier for both parents to add photos. A Tinybeans journal owner can turn on Full Access for a follower, which gives them the same editing rights as the owner except removing the owner or deleting the journal (Tinybeans help, checked 15 Oct 2026). Tinybeans+ can also be shared with one follower, according to its help center.
Qeepsake lets a spouse add entries only on Premium. A Qeepsake contributor gets their own questions by text, and their name appears next to their entries in the same journal (Qeepsake help, checked 15 Oct 2026). One recent reviewer says both parents can't be admins. Qeepsake's help center doesn't say either way.
What do recent reviews say about each?
Recent reviews of both apps are more mixed than their star ratings. We read the newest US App Store reviews of each app on 15 Oct 2026.
Tinybeans reviewers praise it for keeping children off social media while grandparents and friends far away follow along, and some have used it for nine or ten years. The complaints are about an August 2026 update that changed the upload screen, ads for people on the free plan, frequent notifications and emails, and the price.
Qeepsake reviewers praise the text prompts for making journaling possible with a newborn, and many say their children reread the yearly books. The complaints are about the switch away from free accounts, marketing texts arriving alongside prompts, questions that repeat or don't fit the season or the child's age, and a slow app.
Who should choose Tinybeans?
Tinybeans suits families who want photos and videos shared with relatives as they happen.
- Photos and videos are what you want to keep, and you want grandparents to see them as you post.
- You want a free plan and can live with 20 uploads a month and ads.
- Both parents want to post, since a co-owner can add photos with the same rights as the owner.
- You want to use it on an iPad, since Qeepsake's App Store listing is for iPhone only.
Who should choose Qeepsake?
Qeepsake suits parents who want their child's words and stories kept in a printed book.
- You would rather answer one question by text than sort photos.
- You want a printed book each year, and a yearly plan's book credit appeals to you.
- You write more than you photograph, or you want your child's words and stories kept, not only pictures.
- One parent will do most of the journaling, or you are happy to pay for Premium so both can.
If neither fits, our pages on the Tinybeans alternative and the Qeepsake alternative compare each one with a different approach.
Is there a third option?
The app we make: Our Little World is a private baby book app for iPhone and iPad, made by us, Our Little World LLC, which is not part of Tinybeans. Here it is on the same criteria. It is for parents who want the photos already on their phone kept as a baby book. It finds your child in the photos on your iPhone and lays them out month by month, and you can add Firsts, letters and voice notes. Invite the other parent, and once you each say yes, your photos of the children join theirs and theirs join yours, and invited family see what you share. The Family plan is $7.99 a month or $69.99 a year with two invited family members, and Family Plus is $11.99 a month or $99.99 a year with up to ten, as listed on our pricing page on 15 Oct 2026. Monthly plans start with a 7-day free trial and yearly plans with 14 days. There is no free plan, no printed book, no text prompts and no Android app, so Our Little World is the wrong choice if you need any of those.
